West Norfolk Befriending is a registered charity established to help alleviate social isolation in older people living in West Norfolk. We were set up in 2002 as a partnership of three voluntary organisations; Age Concern West Norfolk, West Norfolk Carers Association and West Norfolk Deaf Association.
Since then West Norfolk Befriending has become an independent charity in its own right.
We are currently funded via a grant from Norfolk County Council. Since September 2012, clients can choose to use their Personal Budget to access the service that we offer. We can accept private clients who wish to pay to receive the service. This is a complete change for all voluntary sector organisations, but gives clients more flexibility around the service they wish to buy. The Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk continue to support some of the core costs of the organisation, and we will continue apply for funding from other grant schemes.
